Friday's Mega Millions jackpot soars to $1 billion

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The winning numbers for the $1 billion Mega Millions drawing Friday are 15 23 53 65 70 and Mega Ball 7.

Friday morning, the jackpot rose to $1 billion, with an estimated cash payout of more than $565 million. The new jackpot set another record as the highest Mega Millions prize ever, and got even closer to the highest lottery prize ever, $1.6 billion. That jackpot was won in January 2016.

The current jackpot been growing since July, when some California office workers won $543 million.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
