Second arrest made in deadly Frisco Walmart shooting

Police have arrested a second person in connection to a deadly shooting at a Frisco Walmart.

Jada Mansfield, 24, has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting of 22-year-old Ja'Karrion Craig last November.

The backstory:

On Nov. 13, 2024, Frisco police were called to a shooting at the Walmart on Eldorado Parkway and FM 423.

When police arrived, they found 22-year-old Ja’Karrion Craig in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and foot. Craig was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

A 9-1-1 caller told police that the suspected shooter drove away in a gray sedan.

What we know:

Jerry Johnson, 22, from Denton was identified as a suspect in the shooting.

Johnson was taken into custody the next morning.

Frisco police say they continued to pursue leads in the case and in mid-December obtained enough evidence for an arrest warrant for Jada Mansfield of Dallas.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, Mansfield was taken into custody in Garland.

She is currently being held at the Denton County Jail where she is being charged with murder.

What we don't know:

Police have not given any information about the motive for the shooting.

What's next:

Police say they are continuing to follow evidence in the case and may file additional charges.
