Dallas Weather: Arctic air, plunging temperatures headed to North Texas

This week should see a slow climb to warmer temperatures, peaking on Friday, but arctic air will cause temperatures to plunge with highs in the 30s and 40s.

Forecast: Temps climb before arctic air

What we know:

Early this week, highs will be in the 50s with lows at night below freezing through Wednesday. Then highs will be in the mid 60s by Friday before the arctic air reaches us.

The wind will be something you notice, but you should have a break from the wind on Thursday.

Saturday Forecast: Arctic cold front arrives

What we know:

As we head into the weekend, the coldest air of this winter will appear. Behind that front we could see a few flurries on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The flurries should not have an impact on travel.

The high temperatures from Saturday through Monday will be in the 30s to 40s.

The low temperatures will be in the mid to lower 20s.

What we know:

It will be cold and windy from Friday night through Sunday. 

What's next:

From Jan. 21 through the 27th, there will be well below average temperatures expected.

What we don't know:

The National Weather Service does not show how much below the average temperature it will be the week of Jan. 20. As we get closer, we will have a more detailed forecast.
