Fort Worth hires new police chief
The city of Fort Worth picked a Pennsylvania man to lead its police department.
Joel Fitzgerald comes from Allentown, northwest of Philadelphia.
He served as chief there for two years. Before that he led a police department in Missouri City near Houston.
Overall, the new chief has 20 years of law enforcement experience.
Fitzgerald replaces Jeffrey Halstead, who resigned in January.
He takes over on October 10.
