Accidental shooting leaves man dead at Fort Worth gun range
FORT WORTH - A man fatally shot himself in the head while attempting to clear a malfunctioning gun at a Fort Worth shooting range Monday night.
Police responded to the incident just before 9 p.m. at Shoot Smart, a gun range and training facility.
According to Fort Worth police, the man was on the firing line when he experienced a malfunction with the firearm. While trying to remove live ammunition, the gun discharged, striking him in the head.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fort Worth police are investigating the incident, and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the official cause of death.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.
