1 killed in Hunt County crash involving fire engine
CASH, Texas - One person died and two firefighters were Thursday morning in a crash in the small community of Cash in Hunt County.
The accident happened around 6 a.m. on Highway 34, about 10 miles south of Greenville. State troopers said the driver of a vehicle traveling southbound moved into the northbound lanes of traffic and hit a Cash Fire Department truck.
That vehicle caught fire and the driver was killed.
The fire engine went off the road and overturned. Two of the three firefighters on board were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It's not clear if the engine was responding to a call or if it had its lights and sirens on.
