Teen arrested after girl is found shot in crashed Dallas car
DALLAS - Teen charged after girl is found shot in crashed Dallas car
A 17-year-old is in jail after shooting a teenage girl in a car in Dallas.
The Backstory: The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Monday in a parking lot near the intersection of Timberglen Road and Justice Lane.
The suspect, 17-year-old Frank Pachecho, allegedly tried to drive the victim to the hospital but crashed on Dallas Parkway near Trinity Mills Road.
Responding officers found 15-year-old Keysi Delgado with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
She was taken to a nearby hospital and later died from her injuries.
What We Know: According to a newly released arrest warrant affidavit, there were three teenagers in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Investigators interviewed the third teen to determine what happened.
The witness said Pachecho pulled out a handgun and began playing with it while they were hanging out in a parking lot.
The gun allegedly went off as Pachecho turned around to face the backseat where Delgado was sitting.
"The suspect admitted to playing with the gun and that the gun went off accidentally but stated that he gave the gun to [Delgado], and it went off when she tried to give it back. The witness in the vehicle stated that he never saw the suspect give [Delgado] the handgun and did personally observe the gun in the suspect’s hand when it was fired," the affidavit states.
As soon as Pachecho and the witness realized Delgado had been hit, they began driving towards the hospital.
But Pachecho lost control of the vehicle on the way to the hospital and crashed into a concrete wall.
Investigators said he tried to hide the gun before officers arrived, but it was later found and recovered.
What’s Next: Pachecho is now facing charges for manslaughter.
His mugshot has not yet been released.
