Football player from DeSoto arrested, charges against Dallas player dropped

DALLAS - UPDATE: The charges filed against Da'Leon Ward on Tuesday were dropped on Wednesday, according to his lawyer.

Attorney Tray Payne posted a copy of the dismissal on Twitter. "The interest of justice cannot be served through further proceedings in this matter," it states.

Payne offered no further explanation.

Two college football players from North Texas are facing legal troubles after being accused of sexual assault and theft.

Louisiana State University football player Edward Ingram was arrested by Dallas County sheriff’s deputies on Aug. 2 and charged with sexual assault.

Ingram was an offensive lineman at DeSoto High School. He started 12 games for LSU as a freshman last year.

He was arrested right before he was to go to Baton Rouge for football practice. Instead, LSU suspended him citing a violation of team rules.

Also, Texas Tech running back Da’Leon Ward was arrested in Lubbock and charged with felony theft.

Ward graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas. He led Texas Tech in rushing yards as a freshman 2016.

He’s now accused of stealing four cellphones from the university’s recreation center last year.
