Man With Gun Threatens Apartment Leasing Office

What we know:

Police say they received several 911 calls around noon on Wednesday about a man with a gun outside of the leasing office of the Silver Leaf Villas on John T. White Road.

911 callers said they feared for their safety. One witness said the man pointed the gun at him.

When officers arrived, they found the man in the parking lot. Police say the man pulled out a gun from his waistband and ran away.

During a foot chase, police say an officer "fearing for her safety and the safety of citizens in the area" shot at the suspect several times. However, he was not hit.

After the man briefly barricaded himself in an apartment, police took him into custody.

Police say they recovered a gun and a rifle from the scene.

The internal affairs department is investigating.

What we don't know:

Police have not released the identity of the suspect or what charges he will face.

Police did not specify if the man was treating leasing agents specifically or other residents. They did not say what possible motive the man may have had.

It’s also unclear if the man lived in the apartment complex.

Big picture view:

This is the second officer-involved shooting case in Fort Worth in less than 24 hours.

Police say they shot a man who charged at officers during a domestic dispute at a home in the 5800 block of Westgate Drive earlier Wednesday morning.

Police say the two shootings are not related.
