Gerardo Martinez is the Evening Digital Content Creator for FOX 4 News. He’s an East Texas native from Sulphur Springs and is a proud first-generation college student.
Throughout his nine-year tenure at FOX 4, Gerardo has covered several pivotal news events. His coverage includes the tragic July 7 ambush on police officers in Downtown Dallas, the Botham Jean shooting and its aftermath, the devastating 2021 winter storm and the heartbreaking case of Athena Strand’s disappearance and murder, among many others.

Gerardo collaborates with reporters and the evening news team to make reports easy to read for online viewers. Something he loves about news is that no day is quite the same.
Before his time in Dallas, Gerardo spent several years in the Tyler news market, honing his skills and gaining a broad understanding of the industry. He wore many hats, working as a production assistant, graphics operator, audio engineer, digital producer and general assignment TV reporter.
While pursuing his education at the University of Texas at Tyler, Gerardo contributed to the university's award-winning Patriot Talon newspaper. He played a key role in pioneering the outlet's first video reports and broadcasts, showcasing his innovative approach to journalism.
Aside from news, Gerardo is an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where you can find him volunteering at the food pantry on weekends.
Gerardo also volunteers with the SPCA of Texas and helps foster cats with Dallas Cat Lady,
