Fourth church this month burglarized in Mesquite
MESQUITE, Texas - Mesquite police are investigating the city’s fourth church burglary in a little over a week.
The latest church to be targeted is Landmark Family Fellowship. Someone broke in between Sunday night and Monday morning, taking audio equipment, musical instruments and other electronics.
The burglars broke down the doors to get inside the church.
“From all indications, it seemed like when they came they knew exactly where to go and what they were looking for to take,” said Pastor Jerry Brown. “They were very methodical. It seemed like they unplugged things and did things that, you know, you wouldn’t expect them to do.”
Last week, police said three churches were broken in to over three consecutive nights in Mesquite. The burglars stole computers, music equipment and more from Mesquite Church of Christ, Central Pointe Church of Christ and World Life Church.
There were no surveillance images of the break-ins so police do not have a description of the suspects. They said the investigation is active and ongoing.
Pastor Brown said children’s services at Landmark Family Fellowship were canceled for Wednesday but Sunday services will go on as planned.
The loss is estimated at $40,000.
