City of Dallas unveils new mapping tool to help track coyote sightings

After a coyote attacked a toddler on his front porch in Lake Highlands last May, Dallas began working on a coyote management plan. An important part of the plan is the interactive map that is now available to the public.

What they're saying:

Sarah Farrier who lives in the area, says a few weeks ago a coyote tried to attack one of her dogs.

"I couldn't get away from it. Luckily, a guy in a truck happened to drive by, saw that I was trying to run and kick this coyote," she recalled.

The man was able to help her to safety.

What you can do:

Dallas Animal Services says coyotes are naturally skittish and that if you make yourself appear bigger than you are they are more likely to walk away.
