North Texas - A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Significant snow has already fallen across our area on Thursday, and it will continue into the night and Friday.

Today's forecast:
Parts of North Texas have seen significant snow, sleet and rain already, while others have seen very little. Most of it will change over to snow going into Thursday evening.
The heaviest snowfall is expected to begin after dark and continue past midnight. Moderate snow is expected for several hours in the early evening, starting around 8 p.m. Snowfall should mostly be over by sunrise Friday morning.
The most northern counties are getting the heaviest snowfall. Bonham, Celina and McKinney have already seen 4-6 inches of snow.
Dallas and surrounding suburbs haven't gotten as much snow, but the area could see anywhere from 3-5 inches into Thursday night.

- 5 a.m.: Temperatures in the mid-30s with cloudy skies.
- 8 a.m.: Rain and a slight wintry mix arrive in DFW.
- 11 a.m.: The wintry mix persists.
- 2 p.m.: Slightly warmer temperatures with ongoing precipitation.
- 5 p.m.: Wintry mix continues; roads remain wet.
- 6 p.m.: Transition to mostly snow begins.
- 9 p.m.: Full snowfall with temperatures below freezing.
- 12 a.m.: Snow continues.
Friday's conditions:
No additional snowfall is expected Friday morning, but slick roads are likely until temperatures rise above freezing between 10 and 11 a.m.
Travel during the afternoon should be safe for the Cotton Bowl, but be cautious of potential refreezing overnight.
The slush that we see Friday afternoon is going to refreeze hard into the night and early Saturday morning. Roads may become slippery again.
