Dallas officer helps rescue man after fiery crash

An off-duty Dallas police officer helped rescue a man from a burning pickup truck in Lancaster.

According to the Lancaster Police Department, the pickup was speeding on northbound Interstate 35E just north of Wintergreen Road around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

The driver rear-ended an 18-wheeler and lost control of the vehicle. The pickup hit a wall and burst into flames.

An off-duty Dallas officer and two other Good Samaritans stopped to help. They pulled an unconscious passenger out of the burning pickup.

The driver was able to crawl out of the pickup He and his injured passenger were both taken to the hospital in unknown conditions.

Police have not yet released the names of those involved.
