Dallas County property tax website temporarily goes down as payment deadline looms
DALLAS - Some people in Dallas County hit a snag when trying to pay their property taxes online on Friday. The county tax assessor’s website briefly crashed on the day of the deadline before it was restored hours later.
What we know:
At 4:36 p.m., the Dallas County Tax Office posted on Facebook that its online payment system was back online.
Earlier in the day around 1 p.m., the office posted a notice on its website about technical difficulties with the payment system and urged people to pay in person.
Tax offices closed at 4:30 p.m., but payments can also be mailed with a postmark stamped before midnight.
After Friday, state law requires a penalty and interest to be added.
A convenience fee is added to all debit and credit card payments made online. Online e-check payments can also be made at no additional cost.
