Dallas could start spraying for mosquitoes early
DALLAS - Members of the Dallas City Council are meeting Monday to discuss starting the city’s mosquito abatement program a month early.
The Quality of Life and Environmental Committee will hear a proposal from the assistant city manager. He wants to begin spraying and a public education campaign on March 1.
The Zika virus is spread primarily through infected mosquitoes. It’s been deemed a public health emergency.
So far all of the cases reported locally have been related to travel in other countries. One local case was also transmitted sexually.
