Construction equipment stolen from Kaufman County church
Construction on a North Texas church is at a standstill after thieves took off with $20,000 worth of equipment.
The pastors of Crystal Lake Bible Church in Kaufman County discovered the theft Monday morning. The equipment belonged to the assistant pastor who owns a construction business.
The theft is a major setback because construction needs to be completed by July when the church is scheduled to host a camp for kids from all over the country.
"It saddens you, we're working so hard to get this ministry open so we can change lives in this area," said Pastor Charlie Gowin, Crystal Drive Bible Church.
There are some possible leads -- the thieves left one box of tools in a ditch along with a pair of mud covered shoes. The sheriff's department came out to document the evidence in the case.
