Bedford man helps police catch driveway robbers

Bedford police have charged two young men with aggravated robbery but investigators say it was one stupid thing the suspects did, that got them caught.

Charles Brown says early Friday morning in the 3-thousand block of timber view circle two young men assaulted him in his driveway and took his cell phone, wallet and other things.

"I just kept thinking this can't be real," said Brown.

Just as Brown was calling 911, Bedford Police say 20-year-old Malik Anthony Crapo and 24-year-old Frank Morgan were pulled over for speeding along airport freeway.

The officer realized the suspects fit the robbery description then noticed one of the stolen items in their car.

The officers told brown to call his cell phone and as the traffic officer stood listening, Brown's phone, which was in the suspect’s car, began ringing.

Police say the suspects later admitted to two more robberies, one of which was in Arlington.
