A man has been charged with murder five years after a Denton woman disappeared.

What we know: Don Edward Bullard, Jr., 60, has been charged with murder in connection to the death of Angelique Hataway.

Hataway, 41, was reported missing in April 2019. Police later learned that no family members had spoken with Hataway since January.

Bullard shared a rented residence with Hataway in the 500 block of N. Mayhill Road.

Detectives interviewed Bullard several times about Hathaway's whereabouts, but he claimed he had no knowledge of her location.

A missing person's report for Hataway said she had advanced MS and needed a wheelchair or walker.

In September 2024, Denton Police received a call that there were possible human remains buried behind the N. Mayhill residence.

A search of the property found human remains and items known to belong to Hataway.

On December 17, the remains matched DNA samples from Hataway's family.

An arrest warrant was issued for Bullard on Thursday, December 19.

Police say that Bullard is in custody in the Denton County Jail on unrelated charges.

Court records show that Bullard had been booked into the jail on December 16 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a drug charge.

The latest arrest is the fourth time Bullard has been booked into the Denton County Jail this year.

He was arrested in June and September for trespassing and in January for the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

What we don't know: Police have not released a possible cause of death for Hataway.
