Southlake water polo coach accused of sexually assaulting minor

 A Roanoke man is accused of sexually assaulting a minor while he worked as a water polo coach for a private club.

What we know:

The Southlake Police Department says it arrested Adrian Joseph Maher, 26, of Roanoke, Wednesday night.

Police say Maher’s arrest stems from reports of abuse that happened while he worked as a coach for a local private water polo club. Once the allegations were made, police say the private club fired him.

Maher is charged with sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and solicitation of a minor.

What we don't know:

Police say because of the victim’s age and the sensitive nature of the investigation, they won’t be releasing any further information at this time.

It’s unclear how many possible victims police believe there are.

Police did not provide a timeline of when the alleged assault took place or how long Maher worked at the private club.

Investigators did not name the private club.

Maher is being held in the Tarrant County jail. No bond has been set.

Southlake police are asking parents with children who came into contact with Maher and suspect abuse to call Det. Roberson at 817-748-8235.
