Dallas weather: Tuesday afternoon forecast

Enjoy the brief warm up, but the arctic blast arrives on Saturday. There could be a few flurries behind the front, and another chance of snow heading into next week.

With the arctic air about to invade North Texas, the question is if the Dallas-Fort Worth area will see snow again. It will get cold on Saturday with a chance for some flurries on Saturday night.

What we know:

There is not going to be a big storm, but there is going to be a big blast of cold air, which will probably peak on MLK Day and Inauguration Day (Jan. 20).

That day we could struggle to get back above freezing.

Forecast: Warming through the week, cold blast comes this weekend

Tuesday and Wednesday will have a high of 55, but Thursday will have a high of 62 degrees, with light wind. Thursday will probably be the best day this week to get on the golf course.

On Friday, it will be 66 degrees, but with gusty winds.

It will be cold on Saturday with a high of 40. On Saturday night, we could see a few flurries, but we only have chances at 20%.

Even if we do see some snowflakes, it would not have a big impact on the roads or travel.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will probably be the bottom of the arctic air mass and it will get cold. There will be some areas of North Texas that will be in the teens by Monday morning.

Sunday's high is expected to be 36 degrees with a low in the mid 20s.

Monday will be even colder with a high of 33 with a low of about 21 degrees.

Saturday Forecast: Remember the 4 Ps

On Saturday night, you will want to start dripping the faucets, make sure the pipes are still covered, cover the plants and make sure your people and pets are warm. This will need to continue through at least Tuesday.

7-Day Forecast

What's next:

From Jan. 21 through the 27th, there will be well below average temperatures expected.

There could be a chance of flurries on Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

There could also be a chance of snow on Tuesday.

What we don't know:

The National Weather Service does not show how much below the average temperature it will be the week of Jan. 20. As we get closer, we will have a more detailed forecast.
