Forney pitcher Mason Englert could be staying close to home.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Texas Rangers selected the 6-foot-4 righty in the fourth round with the 119th overall pick.
MLB.com ranked Englert as the 114th-best prospect in the 2018 draft class. He shot up draft boards after a stellar senior season at Forney, in which he set a state record by throwing 55.1 innings without allowing a run, a record that was originally set by former Rangers pitcher David Clyde during his prep days.
Englert is currently committed to play baseball at Texas A&M. If he signs with the Rangers, he will forgo that commitment. He has until July 6 to make a decision
