Cowboys players donate bikes to Rockwall students

A pair of Dallas Cowboys gave an early Christmas surprise to deserving students at Rochelle Elementary School in Rockwall.

Defensive ends Demarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford donated new bikes and helmets to 60 kids as part of the 16th annual Academy Sports’ bike donation program.

The students are all hard workers who have great attendance, academic performance and good behavior.

Lawrence and Crawford said they both know the importance of a bike.

“Back in Boise State we didn’t have car transportation so we had to ride bikes back and forth to school. And we looked back at what we was doing at Boise and what helped us so much being successful at that time and we decided it was the bikes," Lawrence said.

Despite drawing nice paychecks these days, the players said they still ride their bikes to practice every Tuesday during the season.
