Wounded Fort Worth officer reportedly opens eyes for first time since shooting
Fort Worth Police Officer Matthew Pearce has reportedly opened his eyes for the first time since being wounded in a shootout.
According to updates from his wife on his GoFundMe page, Pearce is showing promising progress but remains in critical condition.
Pearce’s wife Laura said Monday after the officer opened his eyes, he moved his leg around. When his wife asked if he was in pain, he said no. She said she then asked if he was afraid, and again he said no.
Pearce was shot five times last Tuesday while chasing a fugitive and his son. Ed Mciver Sr. was killed in the return fire and his 21-year-old son, Ed Mciver Jr., is now facing several charges including attempted capital murder.
Pearce remains hospitalized at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.
