Women steal $20,000 in gold from Arlington jewelry store

ARLINGTON, Texas - Police want to find two women seen on surveillance video stealing more than $20,000 worth of jewelry from an Arlington store.

The owner of the jewelry store says the people who stole from him are professionals who carried out a precise, well-rehearsed plan. He hopes his surveillance video will get them caught.

Ricky Huynh says two women walked into the Ngocnhi Jewelry Store with a stack of cash and said they wanted things for a wedding.

"She wore a big necklace on her neck and a big bracelet to let you know she has money, ready to buy,” Huynh said.

Arlington police say the two women distracted the owner enough to get behind the counter.

"In the process of that transaction, they tried to change their mind, used a lot of mental games to distract him and it worked,” explained Officer Steven Bartolotta.

They had already sneaked open the display door.

"They grabbed stuff then walked out then slowly closed it for me,” the owner said.

Huynh says the two women had $11,000 in cash and selected thousands of dollars in gold jewelry to buy. They asked for pouches for the gold then a larger bag.

"The gold now disappeared,” Huynh said. “It come back out under her big purse."

The women came up short on the purchase and left to get more money. Huynh kept the bag that he didn't know was empty. The two women left with their cash and the gold.

Huynh says he thinks the women came in once before to case his store and came back four days later and stole his gold.

Police think these suspects may be tied to other thefts in East Arlington.
