Eldery couple in hospital after house explosion
Danny and Debbie Holveck were injured when their Waxahachie home exploded around 2 a.m. Friday morning.
WAXAHACHIE, Texas - Two people injured in a home explosion in Waxahachie on Friday morning are recovering at a Dallas hospital.
Danny and Debbie Holveck suffered severe burns when their Ike Road home exploded around 2 a.m.
Both are in stable condition.
The damage from the blast was visible from SKY 4 on Friday.
The couple's son tells FOX 4 that it's a miracle they are still alive.
"You can’t even describe it. You... it’s unbelievable the level, the magnitude of damage," said Garry Holveck.
Holveck says he received a call shortly after 2 a.m. letting him know his 74-year-old father and 72-year-old mother's home had exploded.
A neighbor told FOX 4 he helped to pull the Holveck's out of the rubble of the home and they were taken to the hospital.

Neighbor describes house explosion
FOX 4 spoke to a neighbor who rushed to the scene after a home exploded on Ike Road on Friday morning.
"Considering what happened, it’s just a complete miracle," Holveck said.
The Ellis County Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire was propane gas, but they are still trying to find the ignition source for the explosion.
Holveck says he went to his parents' house Monday and thought he smelled gas.
"Of course, they have a gas stove and a gas water heater. I checked around all that stuff. I didn’t hear or see anything. Nothing was turned on," he said.
Garry told FOX 4 the home has been in his family for generations.
Now piles of debris are where the home once stood.
"You can’t even tell there’s a house there. It just looks like somebody’s...it’s literally sticks," said Holveck's wife Mashelle.
Both Garry and Mashelle have been with Danny and Debbie at Parkland Hospital while they recover.
Danny has extensive burns on his body, a broken shoulder blade and fractures in his back. Debbie also has burns on her body and her son says she suffered a mild heart attack from the explosion.
"I think they’re still in shock," Holveck said. "I don’t think until they get to where they can go see it, it’s going to sink in."
While the home was destroyed, Garry says he found family photos in the rubble untouched.
A reminder to be thankful to be alive.
"You wouldn't expect them to survive that. It was just God's hand was on them, that's all I'm going to say," he said.
Holveck says right now, it looks like his parents will recover from their injuries.
There is no timeframe for how long they will be in the hospital.
