Voluntary evacuations underway in parts of N. TX

North Texas has experienced days of heavy rain and now people in several areas are being impacted by flooding.

A voluntary evacuation is underway in one part of southeast Dallas County because of rising water.

The evacuation is for people living along Bilindsay Road, east of Belt Line Road South, according to the Dallas County Sheriff Dispatch supervisor.

It is not known how many people or homes are impacted.

There is also a Flood Warning for portions of Ellis and Kaufman Counties until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Emergency Management officials have reported a levee breach on the Kaufman County side of the Trinity River.

The levee breach is near the town of Rosser, said Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator, Steve Howie.

No homes are currently threatened however there is a concern the water will go over State Highway 34, Howie said.

There are plans to block off the road and monitor it 24 hours a day if the water does go over State Highway 34.

The Rosser Fire Department will keep an eye on the rising water in case evacuations are needed.
