WEBB COUNTY, Texas - A 22-year-old woman on probation in Ellis County was arrested in Laredo, Texas, while trying to flee to Mexico, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

What we know:

Troopers said Vianey Guadalupe Garcia-Velazquez was arrested Tuesday after being stopped in Laredo for a traffic violation.

Garcia-Velazquez was attempting to get to Mexico to avoid a 10-year probation sentence out of Ellis County, they said. 

The backstory:

Troopers said Garcia-Velazquez was arrested in Waxahachie in August 2023 and convicted of sexual performance with a child, indecency with a child and possession of child pornography.

She was released in January 2025 and put on probation.

Garcia-Velazquez was arrested Tuesday for a probation violation and booked into the Webb County Jail.
