Truck driver shot Weatherford man in self-defense; murder charge cleared
WEATHERFORD, Texas - A truck driver who was arrested for a deadly shooting after a traffic accident has been cleared of a murder charge.
Police in Weatherford arrested Nicholas Kent in January at the scene of the shooting.
It was on Interstate 20 where Kent says he stopped his 18-wheeler after a collision. He says a man ran to the cab of his truck, opened the door and started hitting him. He shot the man in self-defense.
Prosecutors found surveillance video supporting Kent’s claim.
An autopsy showed the man who was shot also had narcotics in his system.
A grand jury cleared Kent of wrongdoing last week.
