DALLAS - Dallas police caught three prolific bank robbery suspects after a dramatic, “Bird Box” challenge-style, high-speed chase.
The pursuit started around 11 a.m. Thursday after a group of armed suspects tried to rob the Texas Trust Credit Union in Hurst, sources told FOX 4.
Officers reportedly captured one female suspect at the bank but three males who were with her took off in a silver or gray Ford Focus or Fusion.
Video from SKY 4 showed them speeding through North Texas – from Hurst to Fort Worth and then back into Dallas. The car kept going even after officers deployed spike strips, the car’s hood popped up and the tires blew out.
The chase finally ended when the suspects hit a dead-end on Glenfield Avenue in Dallas. The three men jumped out of the car and tried to get away on foot.
After a short foot chase, one suspect gave up and laid down spread eagle. A second suspect was captured not far away from the vehicle. SWAT officers and a K-9 all assisted and the third man was taken into custody.
Sources said the FBI's bank robbery task force had this crew of four on their radar and had been watching them. The suspects are wanted in multiple bank jobs and had been dubbed the "Halo Bandits" by agents.
The FBI is now investigating the case.
