Texting mix-up over newborn ends in sweet moment between strangers
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A string of text messages, that ended in a sweet moment shared between strangers, has gone viral.
Deorick Williams says it all started when his brother Dennis' number was accidentally included in a group text about a family’s newest addition over the weekend.
“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today! She has dilated to between 5-6,” read the text.
At first, the brothers responded with a courtesy text to let the sender know she’d reached them by mistake.
“Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number,” they wrote back.
But after a second text came through with a picture of a woman holding a newborn, and the caption, “7 lbs. 11 oz.”, the brothers decided to take things to a whole new level.
“Well I don’t know Yall but me and the boys will be thru to take picture with the baby,” Dennis said.
The texter apologized, saying she was sorry they got mixed up in the baby birthing, but then they made arrangements for the Williams brothers to actually stop by.
“Nah that’s ok what’s the room number Bainbridge hospital right we have gifts,” their reply said.
“130 come on and see us."
And sure enough they did. The brothers stopped by and ended up taking a picture with the mother, Lindsey, the father, Mark, and their newborn son, Cason Knox.
The family was just thrilled, and later posted the photo on Facebook.
“What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know!” the caption said in part. “If we all only had this kind of a heart.”
The post explaining the entire mix-up had been shared more than 150,000 times by Monday morning.
