Terrell PD: Off-duty officer accidentally shot by wife

TERRELL, Texas - An off-duty police officer was accidentally shot in the back Tuesday night.

Terrell police say the accidental shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Pebble Creek Lane.

A Terrell spokesperson said the officer who works for Methodist Health Systems was hit in the back by his wife after an accidental discharge. He was flown to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas in an unknown condition.

“He used to be a night security officer at Walmart and also a police officer for Terrell. Overall, a genuine man, great neighbor,” said Shawn Pederson, the officer’s neighbor.

The officer’s identity has not been released.
