Temporary Irving Blvd. pothole fix doesn't last long

A pothole in northwest Dallas has become a reoccurring problem.

The gaping hole on Irving Boulevard near Regal Row opened up again Thursday, five months after it was repaired.

It damaged at least a dozen vehicles, so workers set out a metal plate as a temporary fix. But that didn’t last very long.

A viewer sent pictures of the same hole exposed Friday morning. The metal plate had come loose and several more vehicles were reportedly damaged.

Dallas officials suspect the recent rain caused the problem.

The lane is now closed until more permanent repairs can be made, but there is no word yet on when that will be.
