Suspect detained after suspicious package found at Fort Worth military base

The Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base spent most of Thursday on lockdown or partial lockdown.

The NAS-JRB and Fort Worth Fire Department bomb squads responded to the Main Gate around 9:30 a.m. Thursday because a suspicious package was found.  The bomb squads used a robot to detonate a suspicious package.

They have been examining the items from the package but there's been no indication that a bomb was found.

The base says soon after that the package was discovered someone was detained and questioned by Naval security forces before being taken off the base.

Most activities and traffic returned to normal later in the day. Officials didn’t state how the suspicious package got on base or give more details about the suspect.
