Trackdown: Help find the Cleburne Super Garcia Meat Market burglars

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the indictment of the burglars who broke into a Cleburne business and stole thousands of dollars.

Investigators believe it may not be their first thievery.

A private investigator is working with Cleburne police to hopefully identify the suspect in this week's Trackdown.

What we know:

The burglary happened on Oct. 6 around midnight at the Super Garcia Meat Market on Highway 67 in Cleburne.

A person or persons broke into the business and stole thousands in cash.

"He didn't disrupt a whole lot of area in the office. It seemed like he knew where to look for, where they had stored the money," said Catherine Smit-Torrez, a private investigator helping in the case. "Since this has happened, this store owner has brushed up his security severely and will no longer be storing money at any of these stores that they have."

The primary suspect was inside the store for about 45 minutes. Surveillance cameras captured clear images of him and his 2014 Ford Focus.

Police-PI Partnership

Smit-Torrez is working directly with the Cleburne Police Department. Before becoming a PI, she was chief of the Cockrell Hill Police Department for four years.

"A lot of police officers are not as willing to work with private investigators," she said. "But we understand — especially me since I've been in law enforcement for years — that law enforcement doesn't have all the time in the world to put into every case. And so when an individual can afford to hire a private investigator, we can work hand-in-hand with them and give them the information that we gather."

What you can do:

Cleburne Police Det. Colby Burris hopes someone can recognize the suspect or his vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to contact him by phone at 817-556-8820 or email at colby.burris@cleburne.net.
