South Texas couple's What-a-love story goes viral
HARLINGTEN, Texas - It’s a true love story for one South Texas couple filled with fries and fairy tales that has captured the hearts of Whataburger lovers everywhere.
Manuel Monsebais and Jasmine Garza first met when they started working together in 2016 at a Whataburger restaurant in Harlingen, Texas.
Their relationship stayed strong through their time working together.
"Every time I would go to work, I would look forward to working with him,” Garza recalled. She even shared a picture to her Snapchat of Monsebais and his Whataburger meal with the caption, “2 best things.”
When the time to propose in February, Monsebais knew exactly how to do it. He told Garza he would be at pre-deployment training in Brownwood two more days so she wouldn’t be expecting to see him. But Garza’s family was in on the surprise.
Garza’s mom told her to meet at Whataburger to plan her aunt’s upcoming baby shower with other family members. Just as she was popping a fry in her mouth, Monsebais came up behind her to ask her to marry him. Of course, she said yes.
The couple plans to wed when Monsebais returns from a nine-month deployment with the Army National Guard in Africa. His unit leaves this month.
