For two days, a salon in Rowlett opened their doors on their off days and gave free haircuts to people affected by the North Texas tornadoes.

Studio 360 salon is surrounded by neighborhoods that were damaged in the Dec. 26 tornadoes that hit Rowlett.

Salon owner Brenda Garcia-Spencer says she was out helping with the clean-up efforts but wanted to do more. So on Sunday and Monday, Garcia-Spencer and hair stylist Suzy Vogel offered tornado survivors a little break and some free pampering.

"I'm not very coordinated walking in a straight line or picking stuff up... I can cut hair. I can make somebody feel good and make somebody smile," Vogel said.

Garcia-Spencer said she had a close call herself leaving the salon that night with her family when the tornado hit. They turned back to avoid a direct hit and came upon a couple badly injured in their car.

"I noticed a leg was sticking out of the driver window," she said.

The salon sustained some damage as well after debris flew through the window. The stylists say that damage is minimal compared to what happened to others and they hope to have another free session again soon.
