Authorities in Collin County say an alert mother likely saved her son from a child predator.
Princeton Police say the suspect's description matches other reports of a suspicious man, approaching children in four other cities.
The most recent incident happened Wednesday morning, in Princeton. The boy’s mother says a man in a green truck called out to her nine-year-old son while he was playing with friends outside. She says he told the boy they were buddies, and encouraged him to get in the truck.
Mom was within earshot and shouted out “you don’t know these kids,” scaring the man off.
Princeton police are investigating the case as an attempted child abduction. They describe the man as being older, with a long gray or white beard. The description matches four other cases reported since January 28th in the nearby communities of Melissa, Anna, Van Alystne and Tom Bean.
Police say the man has not touched any of the children but, in some cases, watched them play or talked to them. In Anna, police say a man offered an 11-year-old girl a brownie. In Melissa, he offered a 12-year-old a ride as she biked home from school.
The families who live near the site of the most recent incident say they are afraid and angry over a man they don’t know, and his possible intentions.
