North Texas Flooding Prompts Rescues and Road Closings
Just after 2PM Sunday, five adults and two children had to be rescued from their fishing boat on Elam Creek in Dallas after it capsized near Highway 175 and Great Trinity Forest Way.
"The current pushed us into a tree," said Enchanbe Bush. "The boat tipped over and all of us were in the tree, just holding on for our life."
The group cold be seen from the highway and was forced to hand on for thirty painful and panicked minutes. "We were just hanging from the trees," said George Lopez. "People started pulling over and calling the police."
High water closed roads and washed out roadways, including an ntersection Teagarden Road and Dowdy Ferry Road in southeast Dallas.
Near highway 360 and Riverside Parkway in Grand Prairie an off ramp was shut down when floodwaters rose nearly three feet, covering the road and halfway up a stop sign.
