Man kidnapped at DFW Airport gas station found murdered

Police say a man who witnessed a group of people trying to steal his rental car at a DFW Airport gas station was kidnapped and later found dead a few miles away.

Investigators with DFW Airport DPS say a 42-year-old man was inside the Shell gas station when he witnessed the attempted carjacking of his rental car around 2 p.m. Thursday.

“And he came out in the middle of that and stopped them and jumped in the driver's side passenger door,” said witness Eric Moore.

Witnesses said as the thieves drove off, the man was still halfway inside the car.

"Hanging out the car for dear life as they did donuts, spinning around in circles. Just driving erratically,” Moore said.

Moore witness the would-be thieves as they got on International Parkway and went south.

"We were standing there just like, 'What are we supposed to do?' We were looking at each other like, 'I'm not gonna jump in front of the car,'” said Moore.

The 42-year-old man was later found unconscious in the 4300 block of Northgate Drive in front of an apartment complex. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Late Thursday night, investigators revealed they did not believe the man was randomly attacked. They said he was most likely followed to the gas station.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

No arrests have been made.
