Man found guilty of murder in gun battle death of innocent Dallas 13-year-old
DALLAS - The 24-year-old man who shot and killed an innocent 13-year-old during a shootout outside a store in Pleasant Grove two years ago has been found guilty of murder.
Malik Tyler was shot in the back in 2019 outside of a Bruton Road convenience store. The 13-year-old and several friends were on their way home from school after getting snacks at the store when the gunfire started.
Tyler started running and was hit by a stray bullet. He later died.

The defense tried to claim Datrail Clayton didn't commit murder because he didn't intend to hit the teenager.
But ultimately, he was found guilty.
Clayton now faces five years to life in prison.
