Jimmy Carter's death sparks tributes, remembrances
Reactions are pouring in from around the world over the death of former president Jimmy Carter.
The longest-lived American president died on Sunday, more than a year after entering hospice care, at his home in the small town of Plains, Georgia, where he and his wife, Rosalynn, who died at 96 in November 2023, spent most of their lives, The Carter Center said.

"Today, America and the world lost an extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian," the White House said in a statement Sunday. "Over six decades, we had the honor of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But, what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear friend as well."

Vice President Kamala Harris

Carter was known for his work with Habitat for Humanity. The nonprofit shared its thoughts on social media.
