Iowa man with 850K-mile vehicle claims lottery prize: ‘I’ve got to get a car’
CLIVE, Iowa - An Iowa man who drove a 2001 Chevy Suburban with 849,000 miles will get a new car after winning a lottery prize.
Daniel Bragg of Newtown recently won $150,000 in the "Money Gift" scratch game.
He said he drove the "loud, red and rusty Suburban through a snowstorm" to claim his prize at the lottery headquarters.
"It's a beater, but hey, it's done pretty good," he said in an online news release. "I've got to get a car, got to get a car."
Bragg, 46, bought the ticket on New Year's Eve.
He said he plans to buy a small pickup truck with his winnings, but said it would be tough to part with his trusty Suburban.
"Oh it'll be a major upgrade. This vehicle, though, can still pull anything," he said of his Suburban. "They said they built these like a tank, and yeah, it's a tank!"
