Hurst 10-year-old dies following medical emergency at school

A 10-year-old died after suffering a medical emergency at school in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.

The Hurst Fire Department was called to Donna Park Elementary School in Hurst on Tuesday morning.

School staff members were already giving the student CPR when paramedics arrived. They continued life-saving measures and took the student to the hospital, DFR officials said.

The school’s principal later sent a letter to parents with the sad update that the fifth grader had passed away unexpectedly.

AMBER Alert Update: Hurst teen returns home safe

The Hurst Police Department says a 16-year-old girl who was the subject of an AMBER Alert earlier this week is back home safe.

The student’s name was not released because of privacy concerns.

HEB ISD is expected to send additional counselors to the school to help the student’s friends, classmates, and teachers cope with their grief.
