HOUSTON - This week's cold weather has turned deadly in Houston.
What We Know: METRO officials say a person was found dead this morning at a bus stop on N. Cesar Chavez, near Canal Street.
The death was confirmed to be due to cold weather, officials say.
The incident is currently under investigation.
What We Don't Know: The age and identity of the person who died has not been released at this time.
Hypothermia Concerns
Low temperatures dipped below freezing on Monday and will be at or near freezing for much of the week. Winds will make it feel even colder.
The wind chills will be dangerous for people who cannot find a place to get warm.
Hypothermia is the most common winter weather killer.
Between 700 and 1,500 people in the US die every year from hypothermia.
