Hometown Heroes: A Flowering Friendship
Polly Tadlock Elementary School in Frisco has a special bond with Mustang Creek Estates. The assisted living center is on land once owned by Polly Tadlock, a beloved teacher and namesake of the Collin County school.
For three years, the school and senior living community have teamed up to enrich each other’s lives. The senior citizens write welcome back to school letters to the students. The students go to the community and sing Christmas carols.
The seniors donated two planters and plants for the school's Garden of Gratitude. The students go to the seniors and interview them for their life stories. They interact several times a year.
Tadlock Counselor Sarah Perry says the seniors get energy and friendship from the kids. The kids get friendship and wisdom from the seniors. It’s a beautiful relationship for both from 10 to 96 years old.
