Kids of all ages bundled up on Thursday to catch a glimpse of Mr. and Mrs. Claus in the Christmas capitol of Texas in Grapevine.

Hundreds lined the street in downtown for the city’s annual Parade of Lights. It’s one of the big events for the holiday season and has been going on for more than 30 years, growing bigger each year.

“We love it. The people line the street. We love telling them Merry Christmas,” said Debbie Reynolds. “It's just so much fun to be a part of this community.”

The parade of lights keeps things fresh each year with each float trying to outdo the one from the year before.

The holiday parade is part of a season full of events to celebrate this magical time of the year.

“It brings back some of that nostalgia people still like in their Christmases, and Grapevine has that,” said Joe Szymaszek with the Chamber of Commerce.

This year, Grapevine has 1,400 holiday events scheduled between Thanksgiving and New Years.

“It gives people a reason to keep coming back,” Szymaszek said. “What are we going to do next? What are we going to go see next?”
