Girl recovering from serious burns after ATV accident

A 12-year-old east Texas girl recovering from her injuries in an ATV accident will be in Galveston today to see doctors about her condition.

Keylee Latham was hurt in July when the ATV she was riding in flipped over and caught fire. She suffered third and fourth degree burns.

She spent a month at Parkland hospital and then moved to Shriners hospital in Galveston where doctors specialize in pediatric burns.

She eventually lost her lower right leg and the toes on her left foot.

"At first it was scary and frightening, and now it's okay," she said.

"She has stayed strong and positive and we've continued to uplift her," added her mother, Lisa Latham.

Keylee went home to her small east Texas town of Martin's Mill in December. She returned to school last week.
