GARLAND, Texas - Garland police have released video of an armed robbery suspect in the hopes that someone might identify him.
The incident happened on New Year’s Day at the Phillip 66 on Jupiter and Kingsley roads just before 9:30 p.m.
The gunman walked in, pulled out a chrome-plated pistol and demanded money. The clerk fought back and was shot in the leg, police said.
Investigators believe the same man may be responsible for the armed robbery of a Grandy’s store on Northwest Highway and the LBJ Freeway just before 10 p.m. on the day after Christmas.
No one was injured in that incident. Police said the suspect had many of the same mannerisms, wore similar clothes and appeared to have a black and chrome pistol.
Police say the man’s violent actions are chilling.
“The thing about this guy right here, his demeanor walking out after he shot the clerk is what scares me more than anything. We want to make sure that this guy doesn’t have the opportunity to commit this type of crime again and ultimately escalating to the point where one day he might kill somebody,” said Garland PD Lt. Pedro Barineau.
The clerk is still recovering from his gunshot wound but is expected to make a full recovery.
