Fort Worth-based Dickies sold to VF Corporation
FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth-based work clothing maker Williamson-Dickie is being sold for $820 million to the owner of some other well-known clothing brands.
VF Corporation also makes clothes and gear under brands like Wranger, Lee, North Face, Timberland, Nautica, Vans and Jansport. Dickies will be its first new acquisition in six years.
Dickies outfits Big Tex each year and has the naming rights for the new arena being built in Fort Worth. The family-owned business has been operating out of the same building just south of downtown Fort Worth for nearly 100 years.
Dickies will remain headquartered in Fort Worth after the sale.
